Google Search Console

Connect Search Console and understand what Google measures.

Search Console provides impressions, clicks, search queries and average positions for your website. Klusio uses the available data for research and reporting. The connection provides insight; it does not publish content or guarantee indexing.

Select the website you want to monitor

Connect a Google account with access to the intended Search Console property. The property must cover the website where the work is carried out. An incorrect domain or URL selection can give an incomplete view.

Account and access
Use the authorised connection settings. Restore the connection if access expires or is revoked.
The correct property
Check the domain, protocol and any subdomain. Your selected property determines which data is available.
Equivalent periods
Compare equivalent periods and record the filters used. Also record when content changed, so results from before the change are not presented as its effect.

Read the figures together

Use the figures to judge whether your website appears for relevant questions. Look at the page and query behind a change. A domain-wide average can move simply because a different mix of queries enters the report.

Impressions
How often your website appeared in the reported search results. Impressions are not a count of website visitors.
Clicks and click-through rate
Clicks are visits initiated from the measured search results. Click-through rate compares clicks with impressions. A click is not yet an enquiry.
Average position
An average within the selected dataset and period. It is not a live ranking that every searcher sees.

Turn a relevant query into a useful improvement

Relevant impressions can be a reason to examine the associated page. Klusio considers this data alongside your services, existing content and other available signals. More impressions alone do not make a topic valuable for your business.

Investigate an opportunity
Check whether the query matches the work you want. Then identify which existing page should best answer it.
Follow completed work
Compare performance after a change with a recorded baseline. Allow for reporting delay and incomplete recent data.
Assess enquiries
Use additional GA4 or lead measurement for website visits and configured contact actions. Search data does not identify which job or sale was won.

Questions and answers

Are Search Console positions real-time?

No. The data has a reporting period and processing delay. An average position is not a current, personalised Google results page.

Does connecting it guarantee that Google will index my page?

No. Measurement and indexing are separate processes. The search engine decides which pages to include and show.

Why are clicks different from Analytics visitors?

These measurements have different definitions, processing and limitations. Their totals should not be treated as interchangeable.

Where does Klusio use the queries?

They inform keyword research and result measurement, together with the other available business and market signals.
