Online authority

Show what makes your business worth choosing.

Your own claims tell only part of the story. Customer experiences, documented projects and relevant mentions elsewhere give people more to assess. Klusio helps you organise that evidence, find suitable websites to approach and check what actually appears online.

Measure

See which evidence, links and mentions are already present.

Prioritise

Choose relevant opportunities that you can realistically pursue.

Prepare

Review a specific approach and an email written using your business information.

Verify

Count a mention as a result only when it can be found online.

Give people something they can verify

Authority is not a badge you award yourself. It grows out of information that helps a prospective customer judge your work. Klusio brings four useful types of evidence into the same workflow.

Your own work
Projects, photos, methods and figures that you can explain and substantiate.
Customer experiences
Genuine reviews and attributable quotes, connected to the relevant service or project.
External references
Mentions in suitable directories, trade publications, business profiles or other relevant websites.
Your expertise
Useful explanations on your website and, where appropriate, posts on LinkedIn.

1. Understand your starting point

The Klusio Authority Index brings five components together on a scale from 0 to 100. Open the components to see what contributes to the score and where information is missing. Missing data is shown as unknown, not treated as a measured zero.

This is Klusio’s own monitoring method. It is not a Google ranking factor, and a higher score does not guarantee a particular search position or an AI recommendation.

How the Authority Index is composed
ComponentMaximum pointsWhat is assessed
Backlink profile30Referring websites and the development of the link profile, using the available external link data.
Verified external mentions20References that have actually been found online. A drafted or sent request is not a published mention.
Measured AI visibility20The latest available measurements for tracked questions across supported AI platforms. This is a sample, not every answer an AI system could give.
Business evidence20Documented projects, relevant customer reviews, credentials and your own verifiable information.
Recent growth10New referring websites and mentions found during the measurement period.

2. Choose a worthwhile website to approach

Possible targets come from sources cited in measured AI answers, competitors’ referring websites, relevant search results, business directories and customers with their own websites. Being on a list of possible targets is not enough: the subject, audience and practical contact route must also fit.

Klusio weighs a target’s expected usefulness and effort, shows a value estimate from 1 to 5, and distinguishes routes such as a profile, listing, article or customer reference. For example, an accessible trade directory may be more useful than a famous platform with no suitable submission route. The estimate is a prioritisation aid, not a forecast of links or enquiries.

Targets are re-evaluated in the scheduled processing. Start with a manageable set—for example, three relevant approaches in a week—rather than sending the same pitch to a long list.

3. Review and send a specific request

Klusio reads the target website and looks for a published email address or contact page. It does not invent an address. The draft uses your business knowledge, explains the relevance and makes one clear request. You open it in your own email application, edit it if needed and decide whether to send it.

Illustrative approach: an accountancy firm could ask a relevant local business directory whether its employer-payroll service belongs in the directory. The draft should explain that service and link to a useful page, without inventing results or implying an existing relationship.

Record that you sent the request. A request with no recorded reply returns for follow-up after ten days; a conversation with a recorded reply has a shorter three-day follow-up. Keep the action history up to date so the reminders reflect what happened.

4. Check whether the mention is actually live

Prepared, sent, replied, reported as placed and verified live are separate states. When you report a placement, Klusio checks the page for the reference. Only a found mention counts as a verified result in the index.

If a previously found reference disappears, it returns for attention. The monthly overview separates this follow-up work from measured progress. An email, an agreement and a live mention are not interchangeable.

A practical example: Prak Gevelrenovatie

Prak had experience with façade repairs, moisture, pointing and costs that was not yet reflected in answers on its website. Klusio developed content around those customer questions and followed the available Google measurements.

The published monthly series records 519 Google clicks in September 2026, of which 384 went to Klusio articles. September 2025 recorded 101 clicks. The comparison describes this business and these periods; it does not isolate the effect of outreach or promise the same outcome elsewhere.

Klusio made it visible which façade questions customers search for in Google. We can now see which pages receive new impressions and which keywords are coming in that we previously did nothing with.

Paid reach and an evidence base do different jobs

Advertising can bring reach while a campaign is running. Your website content, reviews and earned references can continue to be useful afterwards, but they still need maintenance. A publisher can remove a mention, a page can become outdated and search results can change.

Two approaches that can complement each other
QuestionPaid advertisingContent, reviews and earned mentions
How does it start?A campaign can buy reach once approved and running.Build useful material, gather genuine feedback and pursue relevant references.
What needs funding?Media spend and campaign work.Research, content, outreach and ongoing maintenance.
What happens after stopping?Paid delivery stops when the campaign stops.Existing material may remain available, but continued visibility is not guaranteed.
What should you measure?Relevant enquiries and confirmed conversions, not only clicks.Verified changes and comparable visibility and enquiry measurements.

Inspect what AI actually says about your market

AI answers can name companies and cite sources rather than simply show a list of links. Klusio records answers to tracked customer questions, the companies mentioned and source links where available. Look at repeated observations across questions and platforms, not one favourable answer.

Use those observations to investigate your own information and possible external references. No one can guarantee that being on a particular source page will make an AI system recommend you.

Who is this useful for?

An owner with strong practical experience but little of it documented online; a small business whose best customer stories remain in conversations; a marketing team combining content and outreach; or an agency that wants a traceable workflow for several clients.

You supply real material and choose what may be used. Klusio helps turn that into proposals and follow-up work. It does not buy backlinks or automatically send these outreach emails on your behalf.

Questions and answers

What does online authority mean here?

The support for your business that people can inspect: relevant explanations, experience, customer reviews, external references, links and other verifiable information. Klusio organises those components so you can see your starting point and follow progress.

Is authority the same as SEO?

No. SEO also includes technical accessibility, content, relevance, links and user experience. Experience, expertise, authoritativeness and trustworthiness describe qualities Google aims to recognise through different signals; E-E-A-T is not a single ranking factor. Authority work complements a broader SEO approach.

Why are Google reviews relevant?

They give prospective customers information about other people’s experiences. Review volume and positive ratings can also contribute to local Google visibility. Ask for genuine feedback and respond appropriately; reviews do not guarantee a position.

Does a higher Authority Index mean higher Google rankings?

No. It means the measured components of Klusio’s own index have improved. Search positions also depend on many factors outside this index.

Will ChatGPT recommend my business?

A fixed recommendation cannot be guaranteed. Klusio measures relevant questions repeatedly, shows observed companies and sources, and helps you investigate ways to improve the information available about your business.

Does Klusio buy backlinks?

No. The workflow focuses on relevant, earned references. Each publisher decides whether to include you, and a pitch is not recorded as a verified result until the reference has been found online.

How can I contribute?

Provide projects, photos, customer quotes with permission, credentials, original data and practical knowledge. You do not need to turn everything into marketing copy first.

How quickly will I see results?

That depends on the market, starting point and action. Gathering a review may take less time than earning a substantial editorial mention. Follow completed actions and verified intermediate results alongside longer-term measurements.
