Marketing automation plan
A marketing automation plan you can actually carry out.
Start with one business priority and a clear owner for the work. This five-step plan takes you from choosing what to automate to reviewing the results. Use the suggested first-month schedule as a planning aid; setup and search results do not follow a fixed timetable.
Why an automation project can become another task
A business buys a tool, connects a few accounts and still has to decide what to write, chase a draft and put it on the website. Elsewhere, a complicated system goes largely unused because nobody owns the process. Both problems start with an unclear division of work.
Before comparing software, write down the recurring task, the information it needs, the person responsible and what a completed result looks like. For a website article, that includes research, writing, review, publication and follow-up. A writing tool alone does not cover all of those steps.
Five steps for your first month
The day ranges below are an example schedule, not a service deadline. Website access, missing knowledge and approval requirements can extend it. Judge the first month by the setup and useful work delivered as well as the measurements already available.
- 1. Choose the goal and record the baseline · suggested days 1–2
- Name the service, customer group and region that matter. Examples include visibility for five relevant local questions, mentions for a defined set of AI questions, suitable website enquiries or a better review invitation process. Record the current page, measurement period and enquiry source. A target is something to evaluate, not a promised result.
- 2. Select the workflow · suggested days 3–5
- List which tasks you want carried out and which you want to keep. Recurring search research and website improvements call for a different workflow from sales-pipeline management or email nurturing. An integrated website service can sit alongside a CRM. Check the actual integrations, approval options, responsibilities and total cost.
- 3. Connect the website and supply context · suggested days 6–7
- Confirm access to the website and Search Console, then provide your services, working area, examples, tone and current conditions. Set publication permissions and the person who receives enquiries. A website address by itself does not grant publishing access. Test the supported connection without changing unrelated pages.
- 4. Review the first completed work · suggested days 8–21
- Inspect a proposed improvement against the current page. Check the customer question, facts, links and next step. Confirm the live page after authorised publication. Correct genuine errors promptly and review notifications. Avoid rewriting everything in response to a few days of fluctuating rankings.
- 5. Review the evidence and choose the next action · suggested days 22–30
- Compare suitable periods in Search Console and inspect actual enquiries separately. Look at which page answers the question and whether the visitor can take the next step. Strengthen an existing answer where needed; commission a new article only for a distinct, useful question. Keep measuring when the period is still too short to judge search performance.
Choose the system around the work
Team size alone does not tell you which platform fits. A small business can need a complex sales process; a larger team may mainly need help carrying out website improvements. Ask for a demonstration using your own website and one realistic task.
| Your need | What to look for | What still needs an owner |
|---|---|---|
| Research and website execution | Connected research, writing, page improvements, authorised publishing and measurements. | Business facts, approval settings and the response to enquiries. |
| Sales follow-up | A CRM with clear contact records, stages, assignments and reminders. | Qualification, conversations, quotations and closing a sale. |
| Email campaigns and nurturing | Consent records, segmentation, campaign tools and delivery reporting. | The audience, message, offers and compliance. |
| A combination | Compatible systems and a clear handover between them. | Who checks that an enquiry reaches the right person. |
What you can reasonably expect after the first month
You should be able to see what has been connected, what work was prepared, what was approved and what is live. You can also inspect the first available search and enquiry measurements. New pages may need longer to be discovered and establish visibility.
The growth guarantee is available only on Groei Marktleider and Klusio Partner with Klusio running fully on autopilot. It does not apply to Groei Start, Groei Pro, self-managed execution or a workflow requiring approval before publication. It compares 30 complete days of organic Google impressions and clicks after the first successful Klusio publication with the previous 30 days in Search Console. If neither metric increases and the conditions are met, the first paid month’s subscription fee is refundable. It does not guarantee enquiries, sales, rankings or AI recommendations.
Five common mistakes to avoid
Automation works best when the information and responsibilities are clear. Check these points before adding another tool or increasing the amount of content.
- Buying a platform before defining the task
- Write down the result you need and who must act on it. Compare tools against that requirement.
- Leaving enquiries without an owner
- A notification is not a customer conversation. Choose a recipient and a practical follow-up routine.
- Judging SEO after a few days
- Use a suitable period and consider seasonality, indexing and other website changes. Check completed work sooner.
- Letting poor content remain online
- Automation is no reason to ignore awkward wording, incorrect prices or unsupported promises. Correct the source information as well as the page.
- Measuring activity instead of outcomes
- Keep completed improvements, impressions, clicks, enquiries and sales separate. A larger article count is not evidence of more customers.
Use a real case to ask better questions
The Hagman case shows Google impressions and clicks over March to May 2026 alongside the company’s experience. Read the sources and period, then ask how your own starting point differs. Your website, market and capacity to handle enquiries affect which work makes sense.
Discuss what you want to hand over

Questions and answers
How long does marketing automation take to set up?
The five-step schedule is a planning example. Timing depends on website access, integrations, business information and approvals. Agree what is needed before expecting publication or results.
Do I need a marketer to use Klusio?
You can delegate recurring research and website work, but someone must provide business knowledge, make decisions and follow up enquiries. Specialist strategy or technical work may still need an expert.
What if I do not see growth in 30 days?
The growth guarantee is available only on Groei Marktleider and Klusio Partner with Klusio running fully on autopilot. It does not apply to Groei Start, Groei Pro, self-managed execution or a workflow requiring approval before publication. If neither metric increases and the conditions are met, the first paid month’s subscription fee is refundable. It does not guarantee enquiries, sales, rankings or AI recommendations.
Can I keep my existing website?
Usually the first step is to check the current website rather than replace it. WordPress, Wix and Webflow have integration routes with different capabilities. Automatic changes require the correct connection and permissions; unsupported work can be prepared for your developer.
How much does my team need to learn?
Focus on supplying knowledge, choosing approval settings, reviewing the proposed work and handling enquiries. Your chosen working mode determines how much execution remains with your team. Arrange training around those tasks.
