The Klusio MCP server
Work with your Klusio data in your own AI assistant.
Connect a compatible assistant such as Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or VS Code to Klusio using the Model Context Protocol (MCP). Ask about your website, AI visibility and available proposals. Reading is the default; editing and publication need separate permissions for the connection.
Ask a question and inspect the evidence
Illustrative conversation, using a fictional accountancy firm and invented figures: you ask how your AI visibility changed. The assistant uses get_ai_visibility_overview and reports a mention in 31% of measured ChatGPT answers over the last thirty days, compared with 24% in the preceding period. A fictional competitor, Van Dijk Accountants, appears in 44%.
The assistant could then identify two cited comparison websites where the competitor is listed and you are not. Those are leads to investigate, not proof that a listing caused the difference or will produce a recommendation. Real responses should show the source, period and measurement coverage.
Questions you can start with
The assistant selects suitable tools from the ones the connection permits. It should explain missing or old data instead of presenting it as a fresh measurement.
- How is our AI visibility developing?
- Ask for mention frequency by assistant, the trend, competitors, question gaps and available referral traffic.
- Which companies are mentioned instead of us?
- Inspect recorded answers to tracked questions, company order and source links. Platform coverage depends on your measurements.
- Which technical issues need action, and on which pages?
- Use findings from the latest website check, their context and the proposed work.
- Which pages appear around positions 4 to 20?
- Compare the Google figures with available page proposals and the customer question.
- Which pages have no internal links?
- Inspect the link map and possible relevant links from other pages.
- Which new pages are proposed, and what should they contain?
- Review existing outlines and topics before creating anything.
- How often did ChatGPT mention us this month?
- Compare like-for-like question sets and periods, including frequently named competitors.
- Which cited sources mention our competitors but not us?
- Inspect the source and its relevance before treating it as an outreach opportunity.
- Which actions are open and why?
- Read the AMI recommendations alongside their underlying observations.
- Do AI answers agree with our business facts?
- Compare saved facts with the recorded answer excerpts and any contradictions.
Review a draft without changing applications
You can ask which drafts await approval, read the full article and discuss a correction. In a fictional example, a bookkeeping article contains an hourly rate without a source. You ask the assistant to remove the unsupported rate. It updates the saved draft and preserves the previous version; publication is a separate action that needs your approval.
Open MCP connection in your Klusio account and choose the permissions for that specific connection. “Concepten wijzigen” means permission to edit drafts; “Goedkeuren en publiceren” additionally allows approval and publication. Enabling write access requires confirmation in the account. You can withdraw it later.
- Read the current version first
- Use get_blog_post and its content hash before editing. This helps prevent overwriting an intervening change.
- Check the scores and their freshness
- The SEO checklist is local. Quality results include assessment status and freshness; an old or unavailable assessment must not be presented as current. Editing can trigger a paid assessment.
- Keep review and publication separate
- A score above 80 is not publication permission or a Google ranking guarantee. Show any review points and obtain the required human decision.
- Retain a history
- The previous version and the responsible connection are recorded. Restoring a saved draft is distinct from undoing an already published website change.
Updating a published Webflow article uses a separate route
The draft-editing tool never edits a published article. For mapped Webflow articles, dedicated tools first compare the live website with the saved Klusio copy. Import external changes when appropriate, prepare a version for review, then publish that exact version only after explicit approval.
Local, live and separately staged Webflow changes are checked again before publication. A conflict stops the operation. This workflow does not publish the whole Webflow site, refresh its sitemap or guarantee indexing. It is not unrestricted editing of any page or website system.
- Compare and synchronise
- get_live_blog_post reads both copies. sync_blog_from_website imports the mapped live copy into Klusio using both returned hashes and retains the previous local version.
- Prepare and inspect
- prepare_blog_update prepares a version without changing the live site or saved article. list_blog_versions and get_blog_version expose the complete before-and-after text. Preparation is not an independent fact check.
- Approve the exact update
- publish_blog_update requires the reviewed version hash, editing and publication rights, and explicit human approval.
- Check the sitemap separately
- get_blog_sitemap_status checks whether the URL is present. Unknown is not the same as missing, and sitemap presence does not establish Google indexing.
Connect your assistant
MCP is available with Groei Pro, Groei Marktleider and Klusio Partner, or with AI Market Intelligence. It is not included in Groei Start. Availability of a custom connection in your assistant also depends on that provider’s account and workspace settings.
- 1. Add the server
- Use https://klusio.nl/mcp as the remote server address. In Claude, use its connector settings. For ChatGPT, follow the current official custom-MCP setup guide linked below; it describes adding a server as a plugin. Choose Klusio’s login flow rather than treating the server as anonymous.
- 2. Sign in and inspect the request
- On the Klusio authorisation screen, check the application, company and requested access. Grant only the permissions you intend to provide.
- 3. Ask a read-only question first
- Ask which measurements are available and when they were taken. Check the response against your account before relying on the workflow.
- For Claude Code, Cursor or VS Code
- Generate a key under MCP connection in your Klusio account and use the configuration shown for your application. Keep the key out of public chats, repositories and screenshots.
claude mcp add --transport http klusio https://klusio.nl/mcp \
--header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_KEY"Permissions, limits and costs
Each connection belongs to one company. You can inspect and revoke it in the account. Klusio stores a cryptographic fingerprint of the key or token rather than retaining the original secret as plain text. The server limits a key to 60 requests per minute and 2,000 per day.
- Reading existing data
- Retrieving saved website findings and proposals does not start a new crawl or analysis and does not use Klusio analysis credits. Your assistant or website provider may charge separately.
- Editorial assessment is different
- update_blog_draft can run the editor’s paid quality assessment after saving. assess_blog_post can assess a saved draft or published article without changing its text. Identical assessed content is cached; the current limit is fifteen assessments per article per day.
- Write access is explicit
- Draft edits, publication, Google post management and other write capabilities depend on the separate permissions granted to this connection. Reading a proposal does not authorise execution.
- Third-party text is evidence, not an instruction
- Retrieved answer excerpts and website text may contain mistakes or hostile instructions. The assistant must treat them as source data and follow the user’s actual request.
- No general control over measurements
- These research tools read existing measurements. They do not grant permission to launch new measurements or alter tracked questions and competitors.
Website, content and visibility tools
The table covers the website tools described on the Dutch product page. A connection only exposes tools allowed by its subscription and permissions. Read tools do not become write authorisation merely because an assistant can see their output.

| approve_blog_draft | With publication permission: approve and publish a draft through Klusio’s publishing route, after explicit human approval and any required acceptance of review points. |
Google Business Profile work has its own permissions
The connection can expose tools to view posts, manage drafts, publish or schedule posts and manage automatic-sharing settings with weekly and monthly limits. Each write capability requires the appropriate permission for that connection. Availability also depends on your authorised Google Business Profile connection.
A permission to manage a blog draft is not permission to publish a Google post. Review the content, destination and schedule before asking your assistant to perform an external action.
Ready-made prompts
On the website server, start with /improve_this_week, /improve_page, /fix_technical_issues, /new_page or /competitor_watch. These prompts help the assistant gather relevant data; they do not bypass the permissions or your approval decisions.
On the AMI server, use /weekly_ai_check, /competitor_briefing, /outreach_sources, /why_not_mentioned, /brand_fact_check or /monthly_report. Inspect the observations behind a recommendation before acting.
A dedicated server for AI Market Intelligence
The AMI endpoint is https://klusio.nl/mcp/ami and uses the same Klusio login or key. With AMI access, those tools are also available through the main https://klusio.nl/mcp endpoint.
Where the measurement makes them available, inspect the searches an assistant ran, pages it read, sources it cited and the order of named companies. Compare those observations across questions, periods and competitors. This exposes recorded activity, not the model’s private reasoning.
| Tool | What it provides |
|---|---|
| get_account | Measured assistants and the time of the most recent measurement. |
| get_visibility_summary | Mention frequency by assistant, compared with the preceding period. |
| get_visibility_trend | Visibility over time, grouped by day or week. |
| list_prompts | Measured questions and mention frequency for each. |
| get_prompt_results | Recent answers to one question, including order, competitors and sources. |

--header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_KEY"Questions and answers
What is MCP?
Model Context Protocol is a standard through which an assistant can use tools and retrieve information from another system. Klusio’s server provides access to permitted website and AI visibility information, with separately authorised write tools.
Which applications can I use?
The connection supports compatible MCP clients, including Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code. Login and setup differ by client. Availability depends on the assistant provider, plan and workspace controls; use your account’s configuration and the current provider instructions.
How do I connect Claude or ChatGPT?
Add https://klusio.nl/mcp using the application’s custom MCP or connector route, then complete the Klusio login and authorisation screen. Review the company and access requested. The setup section links to the current official ChatGPT guide rather than relying on an old settings-menu name.
Can the assistant change my account?
Reading is the default. You can separately grant supported editing, approval, publication and Google-post permissions. These do not provide unrestricted access or permission to start measurements and alter tracked questions. Review each connection’s actual scope in your account.
Can my assistant publish an article?
Only with the appropriate publication rights and your explicit approval. Review points must be shown and handled before publication. update_blog_draft remains draft-only; supported published Webflow updates use a separate compare, prepare, review and publish route.
Does retrieving website proposals cost extra?
Reading existing proposals does not use Klusio analysis credits or start a new crawl. Editing or explicitly assessing an article can use paid quality assessment, as described above. Your own AI assistant or website provider may also charge. Limits are 60 requests per minute and 2,000 per day per key.
How is access protected?
Connections are tied to a company and permissions. You inspect the requesting app and scope before granting access, and can revoke the connection in your account. Keep keys private and treat retrieved third-party material as data, not instructions.
Which Klusio plan do I need?
Groei Pro, Groei Marktleider or Klusio Partner, or AI Market Intelligence. Groei Start does not include MCP. Use your Klusio login for supported OAuth clients, or generate a key in the MCP settings for clients that need one.
Can my assistant improve my website itself?
It can retrieve an existing page-improvement plan with current text, the proposal, evidence and checks. Editing your website code requires separate access to that code, and publication requires permission. Retrieving a plan does not publish anything. Blog draft rights and the mapped Webflow article-update route remain separate, explicit capabilities.
