Werkspot or your own website

Werkspot or your own website: which fits the work you want?

A platform can put you in contact with people looking for a tradesperson. Your own website gives you space to explain your specialism, show completed work and receive enquiries directly. Compare both by the jobs you win and the margin you retain. You do not have to stop one to develop the other.

Look beyond the next available job

The choice is usually about control over your workload and acquisition costs. Start with your own records rather than assuming that either source always delivers better customers.

Reliance on a platform
Check how much work comes from one source, what you pay and how suitable its enquiries are. A useful platform can remain part of your mix.
Time spent responding
Count the time spent assessing requests, contacting people, quoting and following up, including work you do not win. Use your actual time rather than an assumed industry average.
Gaps and peaks in the diary
Compare demand with your capacity. Website work can develop another route to your business, but does not guarantee a steady flow of jobs.

When Werkspot can fit your situation

A platform is worth considering when you need access to existing requests and have the capacity to assess and respond to them. Check its current terms and the price shown for each relevant opportunity.

You are starting out
Existing requests can give you opportunities to quote while you build your own reputation and website. A response is not a guaranteed job.
You can serve the available area
Check the location, travel time and job type before spending time or money on a request.
You can respond promptly
Make room for contact and quotations. Buying access to an enquiry is useful only if you can follow it up.
Your website is not ready yet
A platform can be one route while your own service information and contact page are being prepared.

When to invest more in your own website

A website lets you explain your work in more depth and choose how prospective customers contact you. It needs upkeep, useful content and a working contact route. Visitors can still compare other providers.

Specialist work
Give each important service a clear explanation with suitable projects and limits. Help people recognise whether you handle their situation.
Pressure on price
Explain what your quote includes, your approach and relevant evidence. This helps a customer compare scope; it does not remove price competition.
More selective enquiries
State your area, typical projects and any genuine minimum job size or availability constraints. Avoid attracting work you cannot take on.
A channel you maintain yourself
Keep useful pages and projects on your own domain. Measure whether they contribute to enquiries before reducing other sources.

Compare total costs, including the work you do not win

Use the same period for both routes. Include charges, website development and maintenance, software and your team’s time. A website does not become free once it is built, and cost per enquiry does not automatically fall as more pages are published.

Use your own prices and results, not an assumed market average

Help the right visitor recognise the right service

The quality of an enquiry depends on the visitor’s need and the information available before contact. A direct website enquiry is not automatically better than a platform enquiry. You can, however, make your own intake clearer.

Separate service pages
Explain the work, process, examples and how pricing is determined. Use actual prices only where they are current and applicable.
Clear boundaries
Show your working area and relevant conditions, such as emergency availability or a minimum project size. Do not hide an important restriction until after an enquiry.
Focused intake questions
An enabled assistant or form can ask about the location, job, timing and urgency. Request only the information needed to respond, and test where the details arrive.

How Klusio supports your existing website

First check your website connection and the work Klusio is authorised to perform. You do not necessarily need a new website. Direct publishing and editing depend on the supported CMS, editable content and permissions.

1. Connect and prepare
Check the integration, business information, existing pages and enquiry destinations. A supported chatbot embed and a publishing connection are separate capabilities. Your developer may need to help.
2. Configure the optional assistant
Give it accurate service information and agreed intake questions. Check its answers, contact handling and handover. The assistant can collect information; you still assess and quote for the job.
3. Improve and measure
The Growth Engine prepares a suitable next change. Carry it out through the approved connection or a brief for your developer. Follow live execution, search visibility and genuine enquiries separately.

Five questions to make the decision

Answer these against your actual workload, figures and ambitions. A useful answer may be to keep both routes while changing the amount of time or budget you allocate to each.

1. Do you need work in the next week or two?
A platform may provide requests you can respond to now. Website discovery usually takes time, and neither route guarantees a booking within that window.
2. Do you want to be more selective?
Use your website to describe the services, area and projects you want. Check whether incoming requests become a better fit.
3. Can you respond quickly?
A platform request and a direct enquiry both need follow-up. An assistant can acknowledge questions, but does not replace your quotation or availability decision.
4. Is price pressure affecting margin?
Compare the full cost of winning and delivering jobs. Explain the scope and quality of your work rather than treating a lower quote as the only way to compete.
5. Do you want another acquisition route over the coming six to twelve months?
Develop your service pages, project evidence and local visibility alongside current sources. Use measured progress to decide how much reliance to move.

A combined approach can be practical

Use suitable platform enquiries to fill available capacity while improving your own website. Keep separate records of source, suitability, quotation and outcome. Review which work is profitable before cutting a source that is still useful.

Set a review date and compare a meaningful period, allowing for seasonal demand and your response capacity. A quieter week does not prove that a channel has failed.

What the customer evidence does and does not show

The original page features three customers. Their published cases show measured changes in search visibility. These figures are not a count of extra jobs and do not establish that the customers replaced Werkspot.

Prak Gevelrenovatie
The first 60 days after 27 November 2025 recorded 13,443 additional Google impressions, a 110.7% increase compared with the preceding 60 days. Source: Google Search Console, as documented in the Prak case.

Move towards another source of work in four stages

There is no universal setup time or date when your own enquiries replace platform work. Use a gradual transition with explicit checks.

1. Establish the starting point
Agree your services, region and capacity. Record current acquisition costs and outcomes, then check the website and available connection.
2. Prepare, execute and verify
Klusio selects suitable work, prepares the changes and uses the agreed review and implementation route. Verify the live result before treating it as completed.
3. Follow direct enquiries
Check whether visitors contact you, whether the requests fit and what work you win. Direct contact does not mean the customer is speaking only to you.
4. Adjust your mix
Retain useful sources and reduce spending only where the evidence supports it. Published content remains on your own website; ongoing services follow the subscription terms.

Questions and answers

Which is better for a new trades business: Werkspot or a website?

A platform gives you a way to respond to existing requests. Your own website develops a separate route to your services and evidence, but needs work and time to become discoverable. Consider both if you need opportunities now and want to build your own channel.

How do website costs compare with Werkspot?

Use the platform charges shown for your account and requests. For a website, include development, hosting, maintenance, software and your time. Groei Start costs €199 per month excluding VAT; a website build and any separately agreed work are additional. Compare the total against the jobs actually won.

Does a website deliver better-quality enquiries?

Not automatically. Clear services, project examples, boundaries and intake questions can help a visitor understand whether you are suitable. Measure the fit and outcome of enquiries rather than assuming the source proves their quality.

How does Klusio help develop an alternative to Werkspot?

Klusio researches relevant customer questions and prepares improvements to your own content and pages. Execution follows the available integration and your permissions. The optional assistant can answer from your information and collect contact details. You remain responsible for assessing enquiries and delivering the work.

Can I continue using Werkspot alongside my own website?

Yes. Keep requests that contribute profitable work while developing your website. Track results separately and review them before reducing either route. There is no required date for ending platform use.
