Google Ads costs

What will Google Ads cost your business?

The answer depends on the searches you enter, the price of the traffic and how often a relevant visitor becomes a genuine enquiry. Separate the amount paid to Google from management, software and website costs. Start with a defined test and measurement you can trust.

Costs vary by service and search intent

A national industry average can hide the difference between urgent work, planned projects and a general information search. Get current keyword estimates for your own area, then compare them with your actual campaign data. These examples identify what to investigate; they are not price quotes or lead forecasts.

Budget questions for seven service sectors
SectorWhat to separateWhat to measure
RoofingUrgent leaks, repair and full replacement.Relevant enquiries and achievable project margin.
PaintingIndoor work, exterior work and seasonal capacity.Suitable projects in the area you serve.
PlumbingEmergency calls versus planned installations.Connected calls and qualified enquiries, not phone clicks alone.
Electrical servicesUrgent faults versus larger installations.Enquiries that fit the service and available capacity.
CleaningRecurring commercial contracts versus one-off jobs.Qualified leads by customer type.
Estate agenciesValuations and selling instructions versus information searches.Genuine valuation appointments and eventual instructions.
ConstructionLarge projects, extensions and small maintenance jobs.Suitable project enquiries and conversion to accepted work.

The cost components to include

Advertising spend is only one part of the total. Agree what is included before comparing an agency quote with software-assisted in-house work.

Traffic purchased from Google
In a CPC campaign, actual clicks incur cost. The auction, bidding strategy, competition and relevance influence what you pay. Your chosen budget limits spending under Google’s applicable rules.
Campaign management
An agency or specialist may charge a fixed fee, an hourly rate or a proportion of spend. Ask what work, reporting and implementation that price covers.
Software and research
Check whether the tools you need are included or charged separately. The Klusio cockpit is part of the growth plans after connection; that does not make every external tool free.
Setup and landing-page work
Tracking, text, imagery, website changes and enquiry follow-up may need separate time or expenditure. An existing page still needs testing before traffic is sent to it.

A worked budget example

Illustrative calculation, not a Dutch market average or prediction: suppose a test spends €600 at an average €3 per click. That purchases 200 clicks. If six of those visits become genuine enquiries, advertising cost per enquiry is €100. If only three do, it is €200. Neither the click price nor the enquiry rate is guaranteed.

Add your actual management, software and one-off setup costs before assessing the total. If you use Groei Start, the current subscription is €399 per month excluding VAT, so that illustrative €600 spend plus the subscription is €799 before any other agreed costs. The subscription also covers its wider website-work scope; it is not purely an advertising fee.

Daily, monthly and total budgets are different

For most campaigns using an average daily budget, Google can bill up to twice that amount on a day and normally up to 30.4 times it over a full month with an unchanged budget. A later start or a budget change affects the limit. Check the account’s budget report; an average daily budget is not a hard total for a short campaign. Setting an end date does not turn the average daily amount multiplied by campaign days into a hard total limit. Review the budget type and report before starting.

Compare an agency with managing through Klusio

Compare like for like. A specialist may provide work that you would otherwise need to do yourself, including strategy, creative production or technical implementation. Klusio’s cockpit supports informed decisions; it does not silently take over every advertising task.

Five ways to investigate avoidable spend

The aim is more relevant outcomes within the amount you choose to spend. A change should have a reason; none of these steps guarantees a lower click price or more sales.

1. Improve relevance and the landing page
Match the ad to the search and make the next step work on mobile. Use Quality Score as a diagnostic clue, not as a bidding input or a promise of cheaper clicks. Google explicitly describes it as a diagnostic measure.
2. Review negative keywords
A painting business may want to exclude painting lessons or easels when it sells decorating services. Inspect the actual query and use the narrowest appropriate exclusion; broad negatives can block potential customers.
3. Match the service area
Select the places you can actually serve and review the location settings. A plumber working in Utrecht may not want to buy traffic for work in Groningen.
4. Investigate weak campaigns
Check tracking and conversion delay before comparing outcomes. Use sufficient data to decide whether to improve the page, narrow irrelevant intent or pause spending. Do not judge a relevant query after a few clicks alone.
5. Choose the right management arrangement
In-house control can avoid a separate management fee, but it uses your time. Include that responsibility when comparing it with an agency.

Questions and answers

What does a Google Ads click cost?

There is no single reliable price for every Dutch business. Obtain current estimates for the actual query, area and campaign, then inspect the realised average CPC. The example on this page uses an assumed €3 only to explain the calculation.

What does Google Ads cost per month?

Your total is Google advertising spend plus management, software and any agreed setup or website work. The average daily budget is governed by Google’s spending rules; it is not necessarily the same amount spent every day.

How much budget do I need to start?

Choose a bounded test using realistic click estimates, your acceptable cost per qualified enquiry and sufficient time for outcomes to arrive. There is no universal minimum that guarantees enough useful data. Confirm that tracking and the contact route work first.

What does a Google Ads agency cost?

Providers use different fixed fees, hourly rates and spend-based arrangements. Ask for a current quote that separates media spend, management, setup, tools and website work. Compare the responsibilities included rather than an unsourced national average.

Can I reduce my Google Ads costs?

You can investigate irrelevant queries, service-area mismatches, tracking faults and a weak landing page. Better decisions may reduce wasted spend, but neither a higher Quality Score nor a fixed set of changes guarantees lower costs.

Are there other costs beyond clicks?

Yes. Management, software, tracking, creative production, landing-page work and your own time may contribute to the total. Review the billing model and tax treatment that apply to your account. Google media spend is not included in Klusio’s subscription.
