Finding cleaning clients

10 ways to attract suitable clients to your cleaning business.

Start by choosing the work you want: regular office cleaning, periodic maintenance or one-off handover cleans. Make that choice clear on your website, show your work and give an interested client a straightforward way to enquire. These ten steps help you build that approach.

1. Make the right cleaning service easier to find in Google

Begin with a service for which you have capacity. A facilities manager searching for office cleaning in your area needs to know whether you can work on the required days, how you check quality and how you handle keys and access. Your page should make that choice easier. Demand varies by area.

Bring together questions from quotations and customer conversations on a strong service page. Add a genuine project, explain your approach and provide a clear contact option. Then use Search Console to see whether relevant searches lead to impressions and clicks. Local SEO connects the offer with the places you really serve.

Local search questions
Describe your actual working area and preferred assignments. Add a separate regional page only when you have specific projects or useful additional information for that place.
Useful content over time
Answer questions that help a client decide: what the contract covers, how a handover clean works and what determines the price. Update existing explanations when your approach changes.
Turn the ideas into a work plan
Choose one service and gather questions from recent quotations. Klusio can investigate missing explanations and help produce useful articles using your own projects and methods.

2. Keep your Google Business Profile useful and accurate

Your Google Business Profile, formerly Google My Business, may be the first thing someone sees when searching for a nearby cleaning company. Correct categories, contact details and working areas help a visitor assess your business. Check that your website gives the same information.

Complete the practical details
List your actual services, hours, contact information and working area. This helps a potential client decide whether the business fits the assignment.
Use your own photographs
Show real work with the client’s permission. Keep confidential documents, people and other sensitive information out of the picture.
Test the contact route
Check the telephone number, website destination and opening hours. Make sure an enquiry reaches the person responsible for following it up.
Share relevant updates
Explain new services or seasonal advice when useful. Keeping information current is not a guarantee of a particular map position.

3. Ask clients for genuine Google reviews

A cleaning client gives you access to a home or workplace. Experiences about care, reliable arrangements and the quality of the work help another client make that decision. Ask for an honest account of the experience, without prescribing praise or offering a reward for a review.

Choose a useful moment after completed work or an agreed service review, and make the process easy with a direct review link by email or WhatsApp. Follow your communication permissions. Review handling in Klusio depends on the connected profile, selected functions and settings; use real feedback accurately in website content and assistant knowledge.

4. Help website visitors get an answer

A visitor may ask whether you serve their area or provide regular office cleaning. Make those answers easy to find and keep the phone number and contact form visible. An optional, activated website assistant can answer from your business information and collect an enquiry when your team is unavailable.

Illustrative example: a visitor arrives at 22:00 and asks whether you clean offices in Almere. With approved information, the assistant can explain the service and ask whether the visitor would like to leave contact details. This is an example conversation, not a prediction of enquiry numbers.

Outside working hours
The configured assistant can handle questions in the evening or at weekends. It cannot promise that your cleaning team is available at the requested time.
Your actual business knowledge
Provide services, working area, process and approved price information. If a site inspection or a quotation is required, make that limitation explicit.

5. Set up WhatsApp assistance where it fits

Customers may prefer WhatsApp, while your staff are working at a client’s premises. A separately activated WhatsApp assistant can provide approved answers and pass enquiries to your team. It has its own setup, allowance and conditions. A website-chatbot notification sent to your WhatsApp is a different function.

Illustrative example: a facilities manager asks about cleaning a 400 m² office three times a week. The assistant can ask about location, required tasks and suitable contact details, then hand the information to your team. Read the conversation and follow up personally before promising a price or schedule.

6. Choose a speciality you can deliver well

Your staff, equipment and planning should support the speciality you promote. Office cleaning, handover cleans and holiday accommodation have different requirements. Specific explanations help a visitor decide whether you have the right experience.

Research demand and competition for each speciality. Also consider margin, travel and repeat work. A more specific search term is not automatically easier to rank for or more profitable. Klusio can help weigh available search evidence against the services you want to develop.

Office cleaning
Explain frequency, quality checks, cover for staff absence and arrangements for access.
Holiday accommodation
Describe changeover times, property checks and agreements about linen.
Apartment buildings and communal areas
Explain how you work with a property manager, an agreed cleaning schedule and periodic evaluations.
Window cleaning
Show which buildings and heights you can handle and how you assess access beforehand.

7. Make it easy for satisfied clients to recommend you

A personal recommendation can introduce you to someone who already has context about your work. Ask whether a client knows another organisation or household with suitable needs, and give them a clear description or contact link to pass on.

If you choose to offer a referral benefit, define what counts as a successful introduction and whether the cost fits your margin. Keep that arrangement separate from public review requests: do not exchange a discount, free clean or other reward for a Google review. An introduction still needs qualification and follow-up.

8. Show your work on social media

You do not need to become an influencer. Use a manageable posting rhythm and your own photos or videos to explain a cleaning method, a preparation step or a completed assignment. Before-and-after images of floors, windows or offices are useful when they show the real conditions and result without misleading editing.

Use relevant local context, such as the area you serve, and tags when they help people understand the post. A tag or posting frequency does not guarantee local reach. Check whether the resulting contacts fit your services.

A time-lapse can show how you work. Obtain permission and keep people, documents, addresses, access codes and keys out of view. A client’s premises are not automatically yours to use in marketing.

9. Build an enquiry route on your own website

For each lead platform, record contact costs, quotation effort and the jobs you win. Compare margin and repeat revenue over a defined period. Fees and conditions differ, so use your actual invoices rather than a universal example price.

Alongside useful platforms, develop your own website and visibility. Website enquiries come directly to your business, giving you control over follow-up. The website still costs time and money to market; compare the cost per suitable job won rather than assuming direct enquiries are free. Klusio helps investigate gaps and prepare relevant work within your plan and permissions.

10. Investigate visibility in AI answers

A customer might ask an assistant which Amsterdam cleaning company serves offices. Make your services, working area and relevant projects clear and verifiable. An assistant may use different sources and return a different answer to another person; there is no guaranteed formula for being recommended.

To follow this channel, retain the exact question, platform, date, answer and available citations. Google visibility, customer reviews and public mentions can provide information to investigate, but a Google ranking is not proof of an AI recommendation. A recorded AI mention also does not show how many clients it generated.

Turn the ten ideas into a manageable plan

Choose one service for which you have capacity. First make the service explanation, working area and contact route clear. Then select supporting work from the ten areas rather than trying everything at once.

Handle the enquiry
Visible contact options, an optional website assistant and separately activated WhatsApp support.
Show why you fit
A genuine speciality, personal recommendations and your own social content.
Build and measure your own channel
Track suitable enquiries and won work alongside search data. Keep useful paid or referral channels where they contribute.

Questions and answers

How can I get more clients for a cleaning business?

Choose assignments and an area that fit your capacity. Explain your services, approach and genuine customer experiences on your website. Keep your Google Business Profile current and follow up enquiries. Begin with one service and measure which contacts become suitable work.

What does marketing cost for a cleaning company?

The cost depends on the work you delegate and the channels you use. Compare spending with revenue and margin from suitable assignments. Klusio’s current pricing page separates the research, improvement rhythm and additional modules in each plan.

Can SEO help a cleaning business?

It can help people discover relevant services and working areas. Demand and competition vary by place and speciality. Research office cleaning or handover cleaning in the locations you actually serve, and connect those questions with useful pages.

How long does it take to see results?

A clearer contact form can help an existing visitor immediately. Assess Google impressions, clicks and suitable enquiries over a longer period. The starting website and competition matter; there is no fixed deadline for additional clients.

Should I stop using Werkspot or other lead platforms?

Compare what a won job costs and contributes through each channel. You can retain a profitable platform while building your own visibility. Use actual costs, follow-up effort and margin to make the decision.
